We have stayed here end of August 2016 as a family (2 adults and 2 children aged 7 + 10 years)
and have felt very well. The house is quiet, relaxing and in close proximity to Havana.
In particular we have enjoyed the wonderful rocking chairs on the terrace - Manuel has even helped us
to take our own rocking chair kits to Germany !!!
When our daughter was for two days sick, she was lovingly provided with chicken soup. We would gladly return again
at any time to this house!

I have stayed in the Casa Manuel in September 2015.
This is a beautiful house on the 1st floor, very clean and secure.
I felt at Manuel quite as at home. The location of the house in Vedado is quiet and safe and located near 29 / B.
Since I was the first time in Cuba, I am very grateful for the precious hints and information given by Manuel!
I would warmly recommend the Casa Manuel.
We walked around a lot in the city, thus we did not have enough time to spend on the beautiful and
huge terrace. We have to catch up on this on our next visit absolutely!

We were very pleased to be able to stay at Manuel. The house is very nice, very comfortable,
the breakfast was - as always and everywhere - excellent and way too much :)
Unfortunately, the house is quite far from the Old Town, but there is a lot to discover in Vedado -
what we have but only found out at the end of our stay.
We walked around a lot in the city, thus we did not have enough time to spend on the beautiful and
huge terrace. We have to catch up on this on our next visit absolutely!

Thank you once again it was a kind and nice stay.
It would recommend it further.

The Casa Manuel is definitely recommendable!
We stayed there for our last two days in Cuba.

Casa Manuel is really very well located.
Manuel gives very good and above all honest advice (not always the case in Cuba) for the
stay in Havana and is extremely helpful. One more reason for the Casa to be perfect
start into a Cuba travel!

We stayed with our 2-year-old twins in November 2013 in Manuel & Ofelia in Vedado.
We can warmly recommend this hostel. The casa is well maintained and clean.
There is a great terrace with cuba typical rocking chairs. Manuel gives good, useful tips and Ofelia
helps where she can. They are really warm and want that all feel comfortable.
For breakfast: fresh fruit and the best scrambled eggs in Cuba!

I was in November , together with a friend in the double rooms in the Casa Manuel
we had booked in advance for 4 nights. Then we still come within our travel twice to Havana ,
in time Manuel had no room for us though unfortunately more available , but was still our first port of call ,
almost like a "home" . In parting, Manuel and Ofelia have us even invited to dinner because they had heard ,
how much I had wished to try tamales - they were while we were there not so easy to get anyway.
Manuel had lots of good advice for further planning and has helped us in organizing our further journey.
Among others, he has warned us not to give our money to policeman, who with a "police check" on the highway
wanted to earn extra income.
As regards safety , I can only join the other comentators here, we could walk both at night on the road
around and our valuables were in good hands at the Casa . We were even left a few things , such as copies
our documents , with Manuel and Ofelia while we toured the rest of the country.
The rooms were large and very clean, we had like to have said the room with 2 beds , TV and air conditioning
we did not use. The bathroom is shared by both guest rooms and also very spacious , even with a bath.
Then there is a terrace with rocking chairs out front.
The Casa Manuel is in a quiet , safe residential area, yet well connected . The 23 is only a few minutes walk
away , from there you can take a taxi or a collectivo - driving classic cars in the city.
We are also often overflowed. How many minutes walk there are directly in the city, I can not say unfortunately ,
because we mostly took a of the detour the 23 down and then along the Malecón .

I was in June for 3 weeks at Casa Manuel.
There are only 2 words for this Casa. "Simply brilliant" Manuel and Ofelia,
the hosts, are friendly, helpful and are always available with advice and assistance.
The Casa is quiet, the rooms large, bright (which is rather rare in Cuba) and very clean.
I had TV in the room (which I have not used) This room has a large window and all in all
you can in this Casa well and above all feel safe.
I could leave the room without hesitation leaving valuables and money.
Manuel watches with Argus eyes the fact that the front door is always closed.
The breakfast is delicious and Ofelia has always made sure that I was not starving when
I came back from the school. This Casa is so far the best I know in Cuba.
And I am now for the 5th time in Cuba and also not the last time.
Once again many thanks to Manuel and Ofelia, the two very lovely persons.

We made a tour in February in Cuba, and spent a week in the
Casa of Manuel and Ophelia. A unique experience that you wouldn't want to miss.
The rooms are good, great breakfast, the terrace nice and quiet but the best
are the people of the house. Friendly, loving, helpful,
communicative if you want and always standing with help and advice.

Spent 5 nights in February 2013 at Manuel. Clean, quiet functional rooms
and a centrally located yet quiet street with little traffic. Manuel and his family are pleasant, friendly
and helpful people. Breakfast is superb and also worth 5 CUC (the coffee alone of). Highly recommended

This is definitely the best casa you can get. We've been staying there for 3 (respectively 8)
weeks and it totally felt like home. Manuel is very supportive. Whatever you may need, he does whatever he can to
help you and to show you the important little things (how to get a taxi, where to find a good restaurant, which bus to catch to the beach...)
The breakfast is great! Fresh fruit and eggs and really good coffee. You can book dinner, too, and Manuel
seems to be a very good cook (from what we could smell ;-)), but we decided to cook on our own in his kitchen,
which is also fine for him. And he helped us finding fresh vegetables, bread and everything else,
which isn't so easy in Cuba.
The rooms are beautiful and very clean and so is the bathroom. Another highlight is the beautiful balcony where you
can have a mojito or two (and Manuel will provide the perfect Mojito recipe).
You can reach both calle 23 with its nightlife and shopping facilities and la plaza de la revolución within walking distance.
The university is also nearby. All in all, the casa Manuel is very recommendable, We enjoyed staying there so much and
would love to come back once for Manuels famous guava jam.

I was 8 weeks in Cuba and most of the time in this Casa. It was terrific. Manuel, the master
of the house is a lovely person who helps where he can. Whether about a good restaurant, shopping
or even how to get to the beach. Manuel always had good advice for us. You could always ask him,
if you do not know. You feel welcomed, true to the motto: My house is your house.
Manuel took the trouble to understood one, even if you take a wrong Spanish word. He usually
understands what you want anyway. The breakfast I can only recommend. There are fruits, omelette,
coffee, tea and bread with homemade Guava jam that should not be missed. Dinner can also book
either involved and this can be Manuel always come up with something, so you also learn even know
the national cuisine. The terrace is really nice. It is the only one you in the street can even
rent a tourist with. And it is also on the first floor as the entire Casa, so you sometimes can
be on their own and can still follow the action on the street.
Calle 23 is located just a short walk away.
That gives you much in the immediate area. The Casa is still quiet. Manuel is always up for a good conversation.
He is interested in his guests and their countries, and is in no way intrusive. If you do not want it that's fine too.
Everything is clean, neat, safe and in a great location. Manuel has a security system at the door,
prevent others walking in. That you need maybe not, but I found the sense of security quite soothing.
What is also interesting for the German tourists is that you can walk from Casa Manuel to the German embassy.
Manuel also recommends a lot of things for Havana and Cuba in general.
And is concerned about the welfare of his guests and will not turn on one.

I have stayed a total of 5 days in the Casa Manuel. The room was well maintained and clean and the
Situation in Havana is great! Shops with the most essential things (water, beer, rum, food) are only minutes away.
The Revolution Square, is just 5 minutes walk and still the Casa is located in a quiet area. Manuel has always
looked after me when I had questions and gave me recommendations for Havana and Cuba in general
(for example has shown how to get to the Playas del Este, or where the best restaurants are).
I can only recommend the breakfast! The omelette and fruit in the morning have always tasted good.
On my next trip to Havana I will choose this Casa again!
[Lothar, Germany (August 2012)]

Great Casa and very nice hosts! The four of us spent three nights at Casa Manuel and
were very pleased with the choice. The rooms are clean and well equipped. The breakfast was very good
(especially the tortillias!). I Can only recommend the Casa
[Bianca, Germany (September 2012)]

We had a pleasure to spend five wonderful days at Casa Manuel,
the house and the room were very neat and clean and the location was great, too. Ophelia and her excellent breakfast
and Manuel's tips for our onward journey (reservation of another Casa) have sweetened the stay,
we would like to come back and can fully recommend the Casa!
[Arne, Germany (August 2012)]

The Casa Manuel is the best casa particular, which I had a chance to stay on my three-week tour
in Cuba. Not only because of the comparatively good hygiene in the house, but also
because Manuel and his wife cared about the welfare of their guests, and not just about the money.
[Lennart, Germany (July 2012)]

Thank you for the warm welcome. We felt comfortable with Manuel and Ophelia having received
a full breakfast and get lots of good tips (in spite of our meager Spanish ;-))
and were also very satisfied with the location of the casa.
A quiet residential area, but everything was within easy reach.
On renviendra !
